CONTEXT

To understand the why's and how's of the solution 🧐

THE PROBLEM

Online dating has become very popular, but it comes with challenges. Many dating apps focus too much on looks and don't protect users' privacy, making them feel unhappy and unsafe.

THE OBJECTIVE

Facilitate connections based on shared interests, values, and personalities, while prioritizing privacy and safety, to create a more meaningful and enjoyable dating experience for users.

RESEARCH

Since the project was unique, we didn't have any background research to rely on, so we had to dive into primary research ourselves. 📝

USER INTERVIEWS & SURVEYS

More learnings from interviews:

• Hobbies, education, and location matter as much as looks for compatibility.

• Users worry about being recognized by family on dating apps.

• Fear of rejection stops people from asking for dates.

• Boys usually swipe through dating app profiles quickly without thinking a lot.

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

BUT, choosing the right competitors for the audit is important! 👇

Our Learnings:

• Photos to keep users engaged, but personalized matchmaking remains limited.

• OKCupid delves deeper into personalities, unlike other apps.

• Assessing compatibility in apps is hard without direct interaction.

DESIGN IDEATION

We brainstormed ways to gather insights into users' personalities and desired partner traits while considering challenges of prioritizing personality over physical appearance 🖌️

DESIGN DECISION SUMMARY

• Choosing a fun and lighthearted design tone.

• Time constraints led us to skip developing a design system.

• Using two distinct font styles to establish a visual hierarchy.

If I were to improve this project, I would 👇

UX IS AN ONGOING JOURNEY WITHOUT A FINAL DESTINATION

• Gamificiaton in chat such as board games

• AR/VR filters for camera

• Ability to answer prompts with voice

• Linking social media accounts with revealed accounts
